Beachside Bakers 2012

Beachside Bakers 2012
Beachside Bakers was tri-founded in 2010 by Jessica Adam, Sara Adam, and Caitlin Coates in Gloucester, MA. The business started with our love for baking and experimenting in the kitchen. We began baking cupcakes for beach parties and yacht club events as a fun summer job. The following summer, we took our favorite hobby to a higher level and expanded by selling cupcakes at our local Cape Ann Farmers market. We joined a non-profit organization for teen artist entrepreneurs called T.A.G (Teen Artist Guild) in Gloucester, MA which provided us with a table to sell cupcakes at the market. Since 2010, Beachside Bakers has hired new employees, held cupcake decorating classes at the Department of Community Services in Andover, MA, and added several new baked goods to their business. The past few summers have been an incredibly rewarding experience as we have learned how to start a small business. We have had to work with many people from licensing our home for food service, making sure the product is ready for the general public, meeting deadlines, and finding high quality ingredients at an affordable price. This process has been an exciting journey, and our business received a lot of attention. The Gloucester Times frequently highlights us in the local newspaper. This past summer we catered our first party, which was also exciting. 10% of our profit is donated to Cape Ann Art Haven, 10% of our profit is donated to Cape Ann Farmer’s Market, donations are also made to Andover Department of Community Services. Please check out our designs! Place an order, plan a party, or just email us at jessica@beachsidebakers.com :)

Georgetown Cupcakes on Newbury

Audrey and I treated ourselves to our favorite competition. We're a fan of Georgetown Cupcakes' Salted Caramel and Eggnog Frosted chocolate. I love how Georgetown Cupcakes is right down the street from BU because sometimes I go between classes :)

Baking Withdrawals !!!

Since I don't have a kitchen in my dorm room, I'm making the best of my microfridge :) These were actually pretty simple to make. It took me awhile to get used to baking and timing chocolate in the microwave but it worked. I can't wait to go home and bake Christmas cookies in the Beachside Baker kitchen and reunite with the bakers.

Young Beachside Baker

Brooke Adam is the youngest Beachside Baker. She is always dying to help stir the batter, crack the eggs, and use the food coloring on.. everything. She is the best taste tester and is constantly bonking around the kitchen to help us. She is planning on taking over Beachside Bakers "when she turns six".

Happy Birthday Dasha!!!

Happy Birthday Dasha! I tried a completely new egg white cake batter for these cupcakes. Since the batter was so white, I added neon food coloring and made sweet neon layered cupcakes. The colors separated perfectly. I will definitely be doing more colored batters in the future :)

Woof

We made this black lab with rolled out Tootsie Rolls for the ears. He came out pretty cute. The edible soy ink pen we got comes in handy when adding little details like the line on this puppy's tongue.

HBD Ariel

Happy Birthday Ariel Kuyks! I had to add your favorite ladybugs into the cupcakes somehow. It's hard to tell, but the ladybugs are actually m&m's upside down and I drew on the body with edible soy ink. They're so cute, I'm definitely going to put them on more cupcakes in the future.

Spring Cupcake Workshop

We just had our DCS spring cupcake workshop two weeks ago. You can check out the pictures here Facebook DCS Cupcake Album . Twelve girls took home six beautifully decorated spring cupcakes. My favorite design was our newest edition, The Polka-Dot Bikini. It was made with a starburst cut into triangles and pearl sprinkles for the polka-dots. The girls said their favorite was the Sea Gull cupcake, which makes sense because it is our best Sea-ller J

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!

My best friend's birthday was February 4th. She is a cheetah lover, so I made her this cheetah fondant cake. It came out really cool and I used edible gold glitter paint for the cheetah spots.

French Macaroons

After our trip to Paris, we fell in love with the french macaroons. We tried Martha Stewart's Vanilla Bean French Macaroon recipe and they turned out pretty well. It was our first time using vanilla bean. I think we have to tweak the recipe a little in the future to make them look like the ones in Paris. The taste was pretty close though. Bonus: these macaroons are gluten-free :)

Vanilla Bean Macaroons with Chocolate Ganache, yummm

Hopefully with a few more tries, we can perfect ours to these
